Karakuri is Getting There!!

Slowly, but surely, I am getting the right build together to help combat with the Ophion problem. Most of the top decks have an out to cards like this. Fire Fists have Bear, Mermails have Infantry, and most other decks can get out Gem Knight Pearl or whatever means for monster removal they have. The problem that Karakuri(Teleport Karakuri/Turbo Karakuri) has is the deck doesn't run a solid monster removal campaign; without the means of synchroing into high level monsters. In the old/current build of Karakuri, and most other variants, the monster removal was the easiest summon of all, Karakuri "Burei", which allowed us to go over all/most monsters in the game due to his effect to 'tilt' a monster. Cards like Black Rose Dragon were used if the opponent made a big push, and in some decks, players used Scrap Dragon to help out. But, until now, Monster Removal wasn't needed because of the shear power and speed Karakuri could place on the board with 3-4 cards. For me, Karakuri never had any bad match-ups, with the exception of Dino Rabbit, until Evilswarms came around; and even then, there were ways to get around Laggia and other threats.

So over the last few days, I have been thinking about ways to deal with Ophion, and I think I, with the help of some friends, have found a way to get around this threat.

Nordic Relic Laevateinn is the answer for both Laggia and Ophion. Seeing as to how the opponent can't chain anything to the activation of it, this will open up your next turn with less things to worry about. Oddly enough, most Evilswarm builds don't call for MST or Heavy Storm. But be aware that most Evilswarm decks run 2 Mirror Force and 2 Torrential; so the backrow is still going to be a threat in making your plays.

Another awesome tech choice is Rivalry of Warlords! This card has been in my side deck on numerous occasions and when played correctly in Karakuri, you can shut down a lot of decks. Evilswarms play different types of monsters but the XYZs are Dragons. This means, that if Ophion touches the field, this alone will slow the deck down and not allow them to summon other monsters(except Evilswarm Zahak). So this can ensure Ophion dies by Laevateinn and the player can't summon multiple copies or the other threats. Also, since Rivalry of Warlords is a condition affecting the Player and isn't affecting the Monsters themselves, Pandemic can't be used to stop the removing of the monsters or allow summons of other types.

These are small techs and more is to come to finish the week. I know I promised a build this past weekend, but limited time to playtest means I don't want to post an unfinished deck. Let me know some ideas in the comments and I'll see what I can do. Playtests so far have been successful vs various decks, including Evilswarms, with 2 mained Laevateinn; while still maintaining explosiveness. So that is a good start. :D

  1. Space cyclone. I just put it in my side. It removes the material from orphan and zone nor dress can stop it. Chances are they will pop one material to grab their lance and you can force the other material so you can summon your big guys to run over or set a offensive wall in case zone is active....either way it makes their lance they just search out irreverent. 2. The problem with Space Cyclone is Infestation Pandemic. If you have Space Cyclone set, You can chain to the activation of Ophion's effect to try and get all the materials off him, but the Evilswarm Player could still have Infestation Pandemic in hand to stop that from happening. If you are a Karakuri player, the Evilswarm guy will do whatever it takes to protect that Material; which is why Space Cyclone is not that good for a Karakuri Player, You have to take the chance of the opponent not having another Pandemic.

  3. Pandemic shouldn't stop space cyclone either since space cyclone isn't effecting ophion himself but the material
