Mischief of the Yokai vs The Meta and possible Dragon Slayer!!

Each face-up monster on the field loses 2 Levels, until the End Phase. You can remove from play this card from your Graveyard to select 1 face-up monster and reduce its Level by 1, until the End Phase. This effect cannot be activated the same turn this card is sent to the Graveyard.

Mischief of the Yokai!! This has been a favorite in my side deck since it's release; to combat against Junk Doppel and Six Sams(at the time of release). This card doesn't remove monsters from the field, and it doesn't 'kill' your opponent, but it does completely shut down a lot of strategies. The goal is to wait for a push from your opponent and make them 'neg' by not allowing the plays to go through. In E-Dragons, you could activate this card when your opponent summons both level 7 monsters before he/she could proceed into making the Big Eye or Dracosack. In Evilswarms, you could activate this when the second monster hits the field and stop the Ophion. The goal here is to stop plays from going through and on your next turn, kill the monsters however you like, this will hopefully have caused your opponent to neg themselves out of a turn. The problem with E-Dragons is they have that persistent ability to resummon themselves with the banish from the graveyard. I see the most effective way to "kill/hurt" E-Dragons is to simply force them onto the field and prevent them from Exceeding, and this does just that. I'm not suggesting to remove your normal trap lineup from your favorite decks for this, but I am suggesting to use this in conjunction with your current line-up. The best part about the card is that you can activate it from the graveyard! And, even then it is still effective at preventing the Dracosack or Big Eye plays; along with numerous other decks that Exceed or Synchro. Constellars can't make Pleiades, Karakuri can't synchro into anything, Six Sams can synchro into Shi En, and Wind-Ups can't make any of their Exceeds(I used this vs them a LOT and nothing is better than watching a Wind-Up player mass summon 3-4 monsters with no exceeds to go into, and next turn be OTK'd by Karakuri).

The point is, the game has grown into making Exceeds and Synchros and these are the only plays that Competitive decks make for the win. This isn't a one turn stop all, but it will prevent a LOT of plays from pulling through for 2 turns! Run 3, and you have 6 turns! Most duels are decided within 10 turns(5 per player). That means if you effectively had this, you prevented anything most decks can do. Try this tech out in your side deck at the least at 2 and side into this, or main it at 2 and see how effective it is for you!

Getting over Elemental Dragons

Just to further go into why this is good vs. E-Dragons, look at the typical text of the cards:

If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can banish a total of 2 FIRE and/or Dragon-Type monsters from your hand and/or Graveyard, except this card; Special Summon this card. During your opponent's End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Return it to the hand. You can discard this card and 1 FIRE monster to the Graveyard, then target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. If this card is banished: You can add 1 FIRE Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use 1 "Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

All of the Big Dragons(Level 7s) have a text built around this format; of course their own attributes and such. Look at where the effects activate; Hand, Graveyard, RFG, So this means that if we do Compulsory Evacuation Device them, they will still be able to use their effect to do something and fuel the graveyard. If we Bottomless Trap Hole them, they will get a search for a replacement. If we Solemn Warning/Judgement or Torrential Tribute them, they will fuel the graveyard to allow the other Big Dragons to be summoned in their place! This is what makes the deck so powerful! The ability to just continually overcome our current means of removal! Sure, we could just play Macro Cosmos/Dimensional Fissure them to prevent them from filling the grave and allowing the Special Summons and that is good; Macro will even stop the Super Rejuvenation from allowing them to draw, but the problem is, they will get their searches off still and be able to make the Dracosack and Big Eyes with the Baby Dragons(see text below).

You can discard this card AND 1 Dragon-Type or FIRE monster; Special Summon 1 "Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos" from your Deck. It cannot attack this turn. You can only use the effect of "Burner, Dragon Ruler of Sparks" once per turn.

So, that means Dracosack will come out, and he will pop your Macro Cosmos/Dimensional Fissure, allowing him/her to continue the pwning!
This is why I am suggesting Mischief of the Yokai. I would much rather face 2 Big Dragons that leave the field at the end of my turn, than look at a Light and Darkness Dragon and Dracosack that will kill me next turn. If I can effectively turn one, set this card with a Naturia Beast on the field, next turn, E-Dragons go off and stop the Dracosack, I just won the duel because of all the 'negs' the E-Dragons just made and with no hope of drawing with Super Rejuvenation, thanks to Naturia Beast. Add a Naturia Landoise in the mix and I'm guaranteed the win, thanks to Blaster not able to kill anything.

I hope you enjoyed the write up and leave comments below on your thoughts of Mischief of the Yokai and if you feel that it could be effective in the Meta!!
